Many inhabitants of Drenthe know that Camping de Berken is located in the middle of the beautiful Hondsrug nature reserve. This makes our campsite the ideal base for anyone who wants to combine a wonderful holiday with practising their favourite sport.
The ultimate campsite in Drenthe for everyone who wants to play golf
Many golf lovers stay at Camping de Berken. And that is not surprising, because what attracts them to golf also attracts them to our campsite. The serene peace, the varied greenery and the vastness of the landscape; these are just some of the features that make the Hondsrug so popular with its many visitors.
Those who want to enjoy the green surroundings can do so in several ways. Just relaxing on the veranda of your rental chalet does wonders, according to our camping guests. If you want to do something more active, you can also go hiking, mountain biking or visit one of the many attractions in the area. Check out our top 10 here.
The real golf lover, however, only has eyes for a few specific attractions in the area: namely the several golf courses in the area around the Hondsrug. Golfclub De Semslanden, Country Golf Ees and Golfpark Exloo are popular with our camping guests. But the Drentsche Golf & Country Club, the Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club and DGC de Gelpenberg are also good options.
Golf courses close to our campsite in Drenthe
The closest to the campsite is Golfclub De Semslanden. At a distance of 4 kilometres, it is only a few minutes' drive before you are on the course with your clubs. The 18-hole golf course, driving range, practice range and 9-hole par-3 course for short strokes ensure that golfers of all levels will find what they are looking for here.
However, are you still an absolute beginner and do not even have your golf proficiency certificate (GVB)? Then the public course at Golfpark Exloo is an excellent alternative. Although the park is a bit further away at a distance of 13 kilometres, it is still very close to the campsite. Among other things, our campsite guests praise the expansive views of the Hunze valley from the 18-hole golf course on Valtherweg.
The golfer who likes a challenge can go to Country Golf Ees. The 18-hole golf course (located just 7 kilometres from the campsite) offers enough height differences and undulations to bring out the best in the avid golfer.
