History of Grolloo: From Esdorp to Bluesdorp
Grolloo is an old esdorp in Drenthe, formed around the Middle Ages. The village developed around a brink and for centuries was an agricultural community, where farmers tilled fields on the higher ash and raised cattle in the surrounding pastures.
In the 20th century, Grolloo gained national fame as home to the blues band Cuby + Blizzards, led by Harry Muskee. His former home is now the C+B Museum, which reinforces the village's cultural identity.
Grolloo combines a rich agricultural history with a unique musical heritage, reflecting a special piece of Drenthe history.
