In recent years, the popularity of camping at home has grown considerably. Not surprising considering the rising temperatures. But how do you stay cool when camping?
A good start
A good start is half the battle shall we say, as it starts with buying the right camping gear. For example, an awning or shade cloth can be very handy when camping under the full sun. Make sure the cloth offers the right UV protection. In addition, most high-quality cloths are waterproof in case of rain. With the Dutch weather, you never know. And if possible, buy a double-roofed tent so that warm air stays in between two layers.
Cool down
In the heat, we only want one thing: to cool down!
Take a dip
What could be better than taking a dip when it's hot? Near Camping de Berken you will fortunately find plenty of swimming facilities. Playpond 't Nije Hemelriek and swimming lake 't Gasselterveld are nearby. The ideal places to swim and sunbathe. Would you rather go to a swimming pool? There are several in the vicinity of our campsite. Going on holiday with children? Then a mini inflatable pool in front of the tent or caravan is ideal for cooling off.
A fresh breeze
A good fridge or cool box can also be a godsend during a heatwave. Enough space in the car? Then of course you can also opt to take a fan with you. Extra tip: put frozen bottles of water in front of the fan to create extra cooling. By the way, investing in a good air conditioner for the caravan or motorhome is also highly recommended.
Cool down the tent
In the evening, remove the outer tent to allow warm air to escape. You can also pour a bucket of cold water over the tent (carefully!). That way, the air inside the tent will also cool down again. Or put warm blankets over the tent to reflect heat with this.
Take it easy
It may seem obvious, but in hot weather it is important to take it easy. Let your children have fun with our entertainment team and find yourself a shady spot. It is holiday after all! Always make sure you have enough to drink and don't forget to apply sunscreen to yourself and your children.
And don't forget to keep an eye on your camping neighbours to avoid overheating. And is it really too hot? Then fortunately there is plenty of shade around Camping de Berken.
